Highlights From The 2007 Detroit Auto Show

This year, Detroit’s North American International Auto Show is marked by unusually high-end autos. All-new cars unveiled include production-ready models from Lexus, BMW, Cadillac and Rolls-Royce. The show also features cool, futuristic prototypes from Acura, Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes and Volvo.

An equally riveting display is taking place on the ground floor, or, more accurately, in the basement, where the show’s organizers have relegated Chinese automaker Changfeng. One of the biggest stories at last year’s Detroit show was the first-ever appearance of a Chinese car at the event (the lowly Geely CK). Changfeng’s display at this year’s show is just as big a deal because it shows remarkable development. The Geely was an oddity; the Changfeng stand, with five small SUVs and pickups, is significant.
